Bike Fitting.

Having ridden, and occasionally even raced, bikes for over 20 years (for more info on this, see the blog section) I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on my bike position as well as that of others. After experiencing a number of informative fits I made the step of formalising this process, enrolling in fitting courses (with Andy Storey of Bike Science) and setting about assisting others - whatever their goals may be.

Since then I have helped cyclists become more comfortable, aerodynamic, efficient and balanced, all leading to increased enjoyment of this wonderful sport.

Services.

As part of the fit, the set up of the cleats and shoes is considered followed by a review of the saddle height/position and the tracking of the knees over the pedals.

After this, an analysis of back and shoulder angles will be undertaken as well as an assessment of handlebar set up and overall position on the bike - all based around the aims of each unique rider.

In addition, measurements of the saddle can be taken and suggestions made based on Pro and/or SMP saddles.

Fits can be undertaken on road, time-trial and mountain bikes and all aerodynamic/efficiency/comfort aspects are considered.

I got my bike fit done a few weeks ago and would very much recommend - since this, riding feels much smoother and easier. Alec is clearly very knowledgeable and experienced, and offers a great service, really going the extra mile. Would very much recommend!

Had a bike fit, it was a great experience. It really surprised me how much of a difference it made to my riding. My cleats were positioned which immediately felt better as before I was pushing against the spring in the pedal. With the seat height and angle adjusted I now feel really dialled in when riding. A wedge was also used to correct my knee. I can really feel the improvements on the bike, especially in high cadence drills where I struggled with my form. I wish I had done this sooner. Great coffee and conversation. Would recommend to anyone thinking of getting a bike fit done.

I recently took my new Redchilli racing bike for a bike fit with Alec. My objectives were to improve comfort and power output of my positioning for upcoming road bike races for my FTP Race Team. This was my first experience of a bike fit and Alec’s explanations and attention to the smallest of details meant I learned loads from the experience. I came away with adjustments to cleat position and to the height, position and angle of my saddle. Alec recommended me specific models of cycling shoes and saddles for improved comfort and he also fitted a shoe wedge to trial with which has helped align my right leg’s pedal stroke. Lastly, he reassured me that my body position (arm reach and angles) on the bike was suitably aggressive for racing (something I’d always been keen to know!)

Since the bike fit rides and races done on the Redchilli’s new set-up have felt great, as if I can access more power from my legs whilst minimising back and shoulder straining over longer rides. Alec sent me the record of my bike fit changes immediately and has since checked-in with how my rides/races have gone along with the kind offer for further assistance with any amendments/follow-ups. Totally recommend the service!

I recently had a bike fitting session with Pannekoek bike fitting. Alec was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything he was doing throughout the fitting process. He made me feel comfortable and was very patient with me as I asked questions. After the fitting, my bike felt more comfortable and efficient to ride. I would highly recommend Alec to anyone looking for a friendly bike fitting service.

Not in 10 years of cycling have I done 5 minutes on the aero-bars, that’s progress and feeling far more comfortable on the bike. Many thanks.

Already on the my ride home my wrist and arms felt so much better. Thank you for taking the extra time to walk me through the set up - I’ve learnt quite a lot today.
